Here's the crew in action. We are always very
serious and do not allow any jokes on the "set". WE HATE FUN!
Production NOTES, PICS and FACTS about ASH WEDNESDAY: CAPITULO UNUS:
This is Digital Work Studios second movie
The script is 67 pages long. However we have added much more to the story throughout production.
Principal photography began July 1, 2006
Capítulo Unus signifies Chapter One. Unus is Latin, I couldn't find the word for Chapter in Latin so we kept it in Spanish.
It is unknown how many chapters of Ash Wednesday there will be.
The movie will be 50% in English and 50% in Spanish (with subtitles) approximately.
The story spans through San Antonio, TX., Piedras Negras, COAH., and Los Troncos (which is a fictitious city in Quintana Roo near Cancun)
Even though the name suggests to be a religious film, it is not.
The scenes that appear in the trailer were all shot in Eagle Pass, TX (except the shot of Ash Wednesday. He was shot in Piedras Negras)
For many of the actors/actresses that appear in the movie, did not go through the process of a formal casting (except for Jessica, played by Kristy Gomez), we just went with our gut feeling.

Brittani Harmeyer (special guest boom operator),
Eva Akashi (Alicia Bloom), Ricardo Mendoza, Flaco Wheeler and Barco. Paco was rehearsing with
Filo.

Even though we used an extensive amount of makeup, none of us knew how to use it. At the end we made incredibly realistic scars, bruises, cuts, bullet holes, etc. with a small makeup kit. Paco Flores did most of Ash's scars, Brittani Harmeyer did most of the bruises and we all pitched in for cuts and blood.
We are shooting with digital film, with a panasonic camera called HVX-200 shooting at 24P at 720 HD.
The movie is being edited in a PC with AVID XPRESS PRO HD
90% of the film was shot in Eagle Pass, TX, the rest was shot in Piedras Negras, Coah. and in San Antonio, TX.
Many of the actors reside in Eagle Pass, San Antonio and Piedras Negras.

and Julio and AD Ibarra in the pic.
The crew normally consists of Ricardo "close-up" Mendoza W., Paco (Leo) Flores, Roger (Barco) De Los Santos, Alonso "flaco" Wheeler and Robert Rdz Palafox. We all take care of the gripping and groping :-D
We produce our own films as well as marketing materials, such as trailers, websites, photos, etc...
The only thing we contract out is the production of the music. We contract with Valhalla Studios in Monterrey, MX.
We like beer.
a lot
The film is violent. All of the cast and crew come from dysfunctional families. I don't know what that means. :-D
If you saw the trailer and thought that maybe this film is NOT for you, then it probably isn't. The scenes are very crude and we didn't hold back on anything.
